We are very proud to announce that our Huntsville Sting U13-Black team are the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup Champions!
The team competed in a Canada wide challenge between hockey teams to complete the most good deeds in their community in a 6 week period! The team, along with their families, friends and community supporters documented over 2500 good deeds between Jan 19th and March 3rd, and held the first place spot on the leaderboard for the entire contest.
The contest is run annually, and the winners are given $100 000 to donate to the charity of their choice. The U13 Black team chose a new charity in town called Food 4 Kids Muskoka. The Food 4 Kids "Weekends without hunger" program provides 12-15 nutritious food items for children to take home over the weekend when they might not have access to enough food. Currently the program is supporting 90 children in our local schools each and every week. The $100 000 and the incredible exposure the charity has experienced due to this contest will have a huge impact on the families in our area that need this support!
The U13 black team has a facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HuntsvilleStingU13blackGooddeedsCup where you can see all of their good deeds done as well as some footage and pictures of recent celebrations since the news of their win was publicly announced on March 16th on Hockey Night in Canada.
Congratulations to the whole U13 black team, bench staff, families and to our community for this incredible achievement!
